So excited to share this recent project! My wonderful friend Sonja, has a musically talented hubby and he has been working on his own album. We have just finished the image layout and design for his project and here it is:

It is that time again!! Our 3rd Annual Santa Open House to benefit Toys-4-Tots is Sunday, November 21 from 1-4. We are so excited that the "big guy" is making some time to stop by and visit our studio. Thanks to "P's" mom for letting us do whatever we liked and a big thank you to his dad, who is so far away, fighting for our country!! She was the Best!

Twelve years ago, Ryan and I brought home these two puppies from the shelter. We had already chosen Maggie on the left, who was a polka dotted little puff ball, when we noticed this puppy that was a few months older with the sweetest face and we just had to take her for a walk. When you walked she would walk, when you stopped she would sit by your feet. Still to this day I wonder how someone could have left Sable (on the right) there, and needless to say we could not leave her there any longer.
These two, who we have always referred to as "The Girls" were just like sisters. They could not be more different, yet they have always gotten along like it was meant to be!
Today was a very sad day at the O'Shaughnessy house because Sable, one of the "Old Ladies" as we have come to affectionately call them, has passed on. I know as a "pet parent" you are supposed to love them all equally, but I selfishly have to admit that Sable has always held a most special place in my heart. I don't think that there will ever, in my opinion, be a more perfect dog.
Sable was an old soul from day one. The most kind, patient, accepting, loving animal that I have ever encountered. She did not bark, really, did not bark. You could get her revved up about getting ready to eat, by asking...Sable are you hungry???...and even then she would just "talk to you". She was not a licker either, which I love, because even the being the animal lover that I am...gotta say I am not a big slobber fan. She has never been a fan of the camera, and now in her upper years and with her "summer shave" this image does not do her justice, but she is a most beautiful girl with a great doggy smile, and a tail that used to wag in cirlces when she was most happy!! She loved everyone she met, and I can honestly say I think that affect was always returned....you just could not help but love her.
I am hoping as I sit here and remember her that now she no longer feels the effects of the lung cancer that made her life shorter than we all would have liked, and she is now running and chasing squirrels (thought she would not have a clue what to do if she caught one), and rolling on her back in the grass like she loves. She leaves such a large void at our house. An animal with such a sweet nature is not replaceable. I can't hardly even bring myself to sweep up the last few tufts of fur, that I always used to grumble about. You just always think you have one more day. I just hope now that we loved her enough, and she knew how much she meant to us.
We will miss and love you forever and a day, our beautiful girl, Miss Sable.

Expressions will be closed April 15-25, 2010.

Sessions will be 20 minutes, at the studio

As this VERY BUSY summer comes to a close and the kids are all headed back to school, we also say goodbye to some little friends. They were delivered as caterpillars to our mailbox and the kids took care of them and watched the transform into these beautiful friends. They loved the flowers we planted this spring and gave me a chance to capture them up close and personal. Hope you all had a great summer!

Hi there ALL-
If anyone has sent me an email in last few days and has not gotten a response please resend it. I have been having a big email issue in that I have been receiving THOUSANDS of spam emails per day. I wish that number was an exageration, but alas, NO. Last night from midnight to 7 AM I got 2068! I think that my hosting company has helped me to get it resolved, but I did not want to miss any important emails from our VIP clients :)

So, I have had quite the summer of wonderful couples. One of the BEST parts of my job is getting to meet amazing families and the Boyetts and Windles are just that. Getting to play a part in a very special day in their lives is just icing on the cake (AND they did have WONDERFUL CAKE!...I will post that soon!). I could not stop taking pictures. I am just very lucky that the bride's brother, Josh Kirk, (also a wedding photographer) gladly accepted the duty of "best man" leaving the role of photographer open for me!! Thanks Josh!

Kelly and Tony - Cancun, Mexico April 18, 2009

Happy Day! I finally got my images to post a bit larger!

Now to more important things! Kelly and Tony blessed me with the opportunity to shoot my first beach wedding in Cancun. Not just that, but they were one of my all time favorite couples to work with. Below are just a few of the images captured during a day hugely full of happiness. You know they are special when 40 of their family and friends made the trip to share their special day too!

Their good friend, Beth Helmstetter, was also their wedding planner and she did a phenominal job! A crazy harsh, but quick storm decided to pass through about 15 min before the ceremony was supposed to start and soaked all of the wonderful things she had set up for the reception. But that was not going to keep her down. Along with the help of the hotel staff, the reception was set up "AGAIN", by the time that the ceremony on the beach was finished. By that time, Beth was soaked, covered in sand, and had a broken toe, but she never faltered.

All this went on while Kelly and Tony were being married on the beach by a judge who told them during the ceremony she did not speak english and they were going to have to "wing" their vows! They cracked up and so did everyone else!
I am so glad I got to be a part of their day! Congrats Kelly and Tony!

What a Year!

Wow, this morning as I was working on images, orders, holiday cards, etc., I got just overwhelmed with the thought of how wonderful and crazy this last year has been. I feel like so much has been accomplished, and though I know there is still so much more to do to make the studio even more awesome, I could not help but give myself one moment to feel the JOY!
So here is the front of our Christmas card this year! :0)
(The lights of my life!! Can you tell we have been keeping the Tooth Fairy hoppin'?!) I truly feel like everything happens for a reason, and everyone of you that have visit our studio touch us in some way. When reflecting on the year I am so very humbled by all of the experiences we have been allowed to share with some of you. All of the babies births we have helped announce to the world, capturing a fleeting moment of transition from child to adult with our many seniors heading off to wonderful things, and the raw emotion of the many wedding days that we have been so honored to capture, just takes my breath away!
Thank you so much for helping us to do want we love and be a small part of your family as well!

Open House Gratitude!!!

We are so excited to share that we were able to deliver 55 toys to Toys-for-Tots this week from all of you that visited our Open House!!! However, after seeing their warehouse, we realize they need much more help this year as you can imagine. So spread the word!! All of the wonderful ladies in this photo (below), and our wonderful friend Santa deserve so much thanks for all of their help! So please read all the thank-yous :)
Mr. Claus - This would not have been possibe, nor such a wonderful success without your help and we can't tell you thank you enough! We are hoping you will be able to stop by next year!!
Sonja Griffith - My good friend, and fellow photog. She manned the laptop, and allowed visitors to view their images. Thank you for all your hard work and help. She volunteered for this!! What a saint! This was our first time trying to do this and we now know she needs help with this. We overloaded her!
Jill Richardson - A good friend of Kendra and myself, who runs a wonderful bakery called "Sweet Cakes". She worked very hard preparing all kinds of goodies for our open house and stayed to make sure the trays stayed full and everyones taste buds were happy! Amber Mainard and Stacy Barragan - My two awesome sisters-in-law who helped host, and make sure guests were taken care of! You rock!
My Awesome Mom!! - Who took names at the door and kept the show rolling :)
Grandma Sally, Ya-Ya Clark, and Mimi O'Shaughnessy(not pictured!) - Who took care of my kiddos, and Kendra's kiddos so we could shoot! (And for making extra cookies!)

OK- So, Kristina Brown, a brand new and very sweet (no pun intended!) client of ours, brought us not only some wonderful goodies, but designed near and dear to our hearts!! MIZ-ZOU!!!
They are almost to cute to eat, but once you try them you are hooked! I think I am slightly addicted to her whipped icing!!! No joke.
She is so creative! I have to admit that I gave her a hard time because there were some cupcakes on her SITE with a certain "bird" on them, and I let her know she needed to show a little love to the "Black and Gold!" She was only to "sweet" to oblige!! Thanks so much :0P
